BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FANS of team St. Kitts and Nevis left the Warner Park Football Stadium last evening (Nov. 22) under a cloud of disappointment, as the Sugar Girls took a serious thrashing from their Haitian counterparts in the final round of the CFU Women’s Under-20 World Cup Qualifiers.

Playing before a small but very supportive crowd, the Sugar Girls’ performance was like that of fish out of water, going under 12-nil to Haiti.

Nerilla Mondesir netted six goals to give her team the full points it needed to qualify for the final round of the Caribbean leg of the tournament.

Her first goal came in the 8th minute and eight minutes later the second, while registering the third in the 32nd minute and finding the back of the net in the 42nd, 44th, and 62nd  minutes.

She was ably supported by Magdala Macean who netted in the 27th minute, Sherley Juedy in the 35th and Melchie Dumonay in the 45th minute.

Roseline Eloissant added a double, striking in the 68th and 74thminutes, while Danielle Etienne closed out the thrashing in the 90th minute.

In the first of a double header evening, the Jamaicans played a more offensive football in a sea-saw battle against the Dominican Republic.

Alufoloshade Adomoluken 61st minute strike was good enough to break the deadlock as her team now needs at least a draw to book its spot in the next round of the competition.

The teams will now use today to rest before resuming action tomorrow at the same venue, where Haiti will tackle Jamaica in the opening game and St. Kitts and Nevis will battle against the Dominican Republic.
