Gunplay continues in McKnight

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A teenager was this morning (July 3) shot multiple times to the body in McKnight and was taken to the Joseph N France General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

According to reports reaching SKNVibes, the shooting victim is 17-year-old Sylvester ‘Syl’ Crossley of Fort Thomas Road, McKnight. 

On arrival at the scene, this media house learned that about 7:10 a.m. Crossley was pursued by two armed men who shot him about five times, mainly in the back, before he collapsed on Lower Cunningham Street, McKnight.

One resident stated that while his wife was preparing for work, he heard the report of many gunshots and a commotion in his yard.
“My wife was just about to leave for work when I heard many shots being fired within proximity of my home. I immediately told my wife and children to lie on the floor. After a few minutes and not hearing any more gunshots, I decided to leave the house to enquire what transpired. While in the yard, I saw a trail of blood along the passageway leading to the front of the yard and a young man was kneeling on the road. He was bleeding,” the resident said.

The resident also noted that some of the bullets had struck various parts of his house and two of them were lodged in his garbage bin.

Another resident claimed that the shooting started in an alleyway leading from Shaw Avenue to the southern fence of the yard through which Crossley ran before collapsing on Lower Cunningham Street.

Reports state that Crossley was driven to the hospital by his father.

On investigation, this media house saw a trail of blood along the alleyway leading to a pile of concrete blocks, upon which the shooting victim climbed in an effort to jump the fence.

According to informed sources, a quantity of spent shells was found at the crime scene which indicated that more than one caliber of weapon was used.

No one was arrested but investigations are ongoing.
