Armed bandits rob Amory’s American Bakery

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS thieves on St. Kitts continue to deprive members of the business community and other individuals of their hard earned cash and valuables, the latest entity to have fallen prey to these marauding bandits is the American Bakery on Victoria Road, Basseterre.

Reports reaching SKNVibes, which were confirmed by police, stated that two masked, armed bandits entered the establishment on Thursday evening (Nov. 30) and robbed it of an undisclosed sum of cash.

According to a police communiqué, the police had received a report at about 7:30 p.m. of a robbery that took place at the bakery.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bakery was already closed for business but employees were within when “two masked persons entered through a back door and took a sum of money from the cash register then made their exit through the point of entry”.

According to WINN FM, when contacted for a comment yesterday (Dec. 1), owner of the establishment, Ernest Amory said he was pleased that no one was hurt during the robbery.

He also commended the police for their quick response and urged citizens to be on guard as there is usually a spike in crime around November, December and June.

Police reported that the scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Unit and investigations are ongoing.

The police are therefore urging anyone who might have information leading to the apprehension of the two perpetrators to contact the Basseterre Police Station at 465-2241 or the nearest police station.
