BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts-Nevis Men’s National Football team will battle against its Grenadian counterpart this evening (Dec. 2) at Warner Park in the local footballers final friendly international for 2017.

General Secretary of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, Stanley Jacobs confirmed that it would be the last international encounter for the Sugar Boyz for the year.

“We want to end 2017 on a very high note. It has been a very active year for St. Kitts and Nevis, starting with the tour to Europe then later on going on to play in India and now the final home game.”

He stated that the head coach, Jacque Passy, is expecting a strong performance from the line-up to close out the busy year.

In their return to Europe, the Sugar Boyz were battered in their two international games - going under to Armenia 5-nil and Georgia 3-nil.

However, in their trip to India, where they competed in the Independence Cup, they drew 1-1 with the home side and registered a similar score line against Mauritius.

In their friendly international against Barbados, team St. Kitts and Nevis edged out the visitors 2-1.

Jacobs stated that they are all looking forward to tonight’s encounter, pointing out that it is a stepping stone for St. Kitts and Nevis as the team is preparing for 2018.

Next year, he noted, is going to be an even more active one as CONCACAF prepares to roll out its new Cup of Nations League, “which would totally transform how football is played in the region”.

“So, for us here in St. Kitts and Nevis, we are looking forward to that very much.”

Meanwhile, Grenada recently drew 2-2 with Caribbean powerhouse Trinidad and Tobago, and edged out Guyana 1-nil.

The action blows off from 8:00 p.m.
