Another Small Business Robbed in St. Kitts

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LAW enforcement officers on St. Kitts are investigating an armed robbery at at a hair salon on Durant Avenue on Friday, December 8.
     
    According to a police statement issued yesterday a preliminary investigation revealed that at around 11:30 p.m. an armed masked man entered the salon and robbed the hairdresser, Rosa Foe, of her pink purse and a sum of money.
     
    During the incident, Andrew Pane was struck to the face by the assailant, as two other persons were present during the incident.
     
    Reports also claim that Ruben Ozuna was robbed of several pieces of identification and a sum of money.
     
    The police have given assurance to the public that “foot and mobile patrols are continuing and will be increased during the season”. 
     
    Just last week there were reports of another robbery of a business establishment in the Sandy Point Area.
     
    While police have yet to issue a statement on that incident, photos show the proprietor of the shop being robbed at gunpoint .
     
    Meanwhile, the force is reporting the confiscation of another illegal weapon from the streets of Nevis.
     
    According to police reports, “On Friday, December 08, 2017, members of the Task Force Unit, Violent Crime Unit and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force had reason to search an unoccupied plot of land in the Newcastle area.  That search resulted in the uncovering of one (1) .38 revolver, six (6) rounds of .38 ammunition and seven (7) rounds of .357 ammunition.”

    The removal of the weapon, according to the police, was due to because of “the calculated and strategic planning of operations between the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and its partner agencies”.
