Cleon Dore slapped with Customs charges

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have brought three customs charges against Cleon Dore of Butlers Village, Nevis, under the Customs Act.

    The charges are, Importation of Restricted Goods, Goods Packed in a Manner to Deceive a Customs Officer and Fraudulent Declaration, which were laid on December 01, 2017.

    According to a police statement, the charges stemmed from a November 28, 2017 incident.

    Police and other officers, while conducting a search operation at the Long Point Port, checked several items, including a yellow Mitsubishi Lancer motor car that arrived from St. Martin on board the MV Mutty’s Pride.

    During the search, officers discovered “eighteen (18) packages wrapped in black plastic with vegetable material suspected to be Cannabis”. 

    “These packages were found in the trunk of the motor car that was reconfigured to deceive law enforcement officials. The weight of the packages combined is close to 29,369.20 grams,” a police statement disclosed.

    Though the police indicated that the items were suspected to “Cannabis” they did not indicate if the tested to confirm such, but Dore charged and placed on $15, 000.

    The matter is currently under investigation by law enforcement officers.
