Brantley Confident that CCM Would Return Four Seats, Possibly Five

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DEPUTY Premier and Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), Mark Brantley, today expressed his confidence that his party would return to form the next government on Nevis.

SKNVibes News caught up with Brantley shortly after he cast his ballot, and he was pleased with the turn out that he saw,  describing the small crowd at his polling station as “normal”.

“We normally get a little bit of a rush early morning before work and then we get a slow trickle throughout the day and then a rush in the afternoon.”

He explained that it was a historic elections and an opportunity for the people of Nevis to decide “if they are going to stay with the same old leadership or do something new”.

The seasoned politician ascended to the helm of the party after its long-time leader, Vance Amory passed on the mantle.

Brantley intimated that he and members of the party are confident that though they are entering the elections under new leadership, they would be able to win the elections.

“I am a new leader yes, but the truth is that I have been deputy leader for the last eleven years, and Deputy Premier for the last five years.  So, I am new to the leadership but not new to the party and Nevis politics and people would have what we have and what we can offer.”

The Deputy Premier said they presented an excellent slate of candidates, and they would return with four or possibly five seats after tonight.

He confessed that his party’s DNA is all over the island, and the people would buy into the ideas and initiatives that the party and its leader have put forward for the next five years.

“From seaport to airport, from schools to the hospital. You name it, our DNA is on it; so people know that this party for the last 30 years has developed Nevis, and been there  serving the people of Nevis.”
Over the last several months, the party has pushed the notion that they could retain the government.

Polls have closed and decisive results are expected shortly.
