By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, Dec. 19, 2017 – DESPITE coming into the 2017 Local Government Elections under new leadership, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) returned a 4-1 victory at the polls to be re-elected.

The victory stunned the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), whose members were confident of pulling off the upset victory at the polls.

Spencer Brand, Alexis Jeffers, Eric Evelyn and Mark Brantley emerged triumphant, bringing home a landslide victory for their party.

The upset of the evening came in District One, where the incumbent Robelto Hector of the NRP lost his seat to Spencer Brand by 11 votes – 585 to 596.

That victory was one of the early announcements made by the Supervisor of Elections, Elvin Bailey, who confirmed the inevitable in District Five, as NRP’s Leader Joseph Parry thumped Keith Scarborough 518 to 229.

In District Four, CCM’s Alexis Jeffers swep this new rival Virgil Browne, by over 300 votes, 833-528.

Hensley Daniel lost the St. Johns seat to Premier-elect Mark Brantley, 1334 to 1000, while CCM’s new-comer Eric Evelyn hammered NRP’s Cory Tyson, 761-233 votes.

Brantley expressed confidence in the party of being re-elected, when he spoke with SKNVibes News shortly after voting.

“From seaport to airport, from schools to the hospital. You name it, our DNA is on it; so people know that this party for the last 30 years has developed Nevis, and been there  serving the people of Nevis.”
