PLP #7 Branch holds a successful Christmas party for children in Phillips Village

General view of the Phillips hard courts, with Sylvester’s Masquerade making a folklore presentation
By: Peter Ngunjiri, Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 19, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- The hard court at Phillips Village in Constituency Number Seven has gained national recognition since the launch of the Mol-Phil Explorers Youth Club earlier this year, as the members made it their home ground.

The hard court came back to life yesterday afternoon (Monday December 18) as members of the club, who brought their younger siblings that are not members of the club, poured into the hard court for a totally different activity.

It was the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Seven Branch’s Children Christmas Party, a continuation of the parties being held for children in Constituency Number Seven which is represented in the National Assembly by Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who is also the PLP’s National Political Leader.

Similar parties have been held at Lodge, Ottley’s, Black Rocks (Bellevue), and Christchurch, while children in Tabernacle, Molineux, and Mansion will have their different parties held later today (Tuesday December 19) starting from 2:00 pm.

Children from Phillips Village might have been treated to and indulged in activities that were not experienced by the villages that have already held their parties. All the parties have been coming with the popular bouncing castle, and folklore entertainment provided by the Sylvester’s Masquerade.

Ms Shamari James of Sha’s Party Rentals provided the bouncing castle, which is always a major attraction at such events. It was not only the castle she provided, but she also provided the children with horses, tricycles, scooters, carts and wagons that proved to be very popular. She also provided popcorn and cotton-candy machines.

Food, snacks and presents were galore and were evenly distributed to all who attended by the host Ms Venesha ‘Phoebe’ Scarborough who was ably assisted by Ms LaFoya Mills, and a student of the Washington Archibald High School, Miss Eunija Wattley.

The party which was interrupted twice by showers of rain that did not send the children scampering for cover as it would be expected, was graced by the presence of the Chairman of PLP Constituency Number Seven Branch, Mr Lenworth Harris; PLP Founding Member Mr William Phillip; and Police Officer Telmor Abbott who is a member of the Mol-Phil Explorers Youth Club’ Phillips’ Village Committee.

Adults were also welcome and provided with food. However, some adult males got excited and started dancing with the children, but when one of them entered the bouncing castle to the delight of the children who were enjoying themselves thoroughly, he was quickly ejected by Host Ms Scarborough who announced that adults could partake of the food but should refrain from entering into the bouncing castle. Music and public address services were provided by DJ Shawn Morrishaw of Selecta Nailz.

When it came to the distribution of presents, the children were requested to form a line with the youngest at the front and distribution was done by Ms Scarborough, Ms Mills and Miss Wattley. By the time the children left, they were laden with gifts and many had to seek the assistance of their parents in carrying them.
