BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation was this morning rocked by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake sometime after 11:00 a.m.
Many were caught off by the shaking which lasted for about 5 seconds.
According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Center, the quake occurred at latitude:18:23 north and Longitude 62.81 west – with a depth of 68km.
Further the center in its early report, stated that the quake was felt in St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, also in Guadeloupe.
In the case of St. Kitts and Nevis, the quake occurred 103 km north of Basseterre, 163 km northwest of Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda; and 2261 km NW of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.
