BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Dec. 24.17 – AFTER stunning the small crowd in attendance at Warner Park to lift the 2017/2018 Carnival Soca Monarch title, Mr. Hype and his ‘crazy people’ have bigger things in store.
For his victory, he took home EC$ 11, 000 and the opportunity to have a single recorded with a Barbadian company.
Hype told SKNVibes Entertainment that he expects there to be more music coming his way after the Black Sock group.
Additionally, team would also be putting out new ideas for music and videos is looking forward to working on.
“We are just going to continue to make great music that people can really enjoy, where they can get the fun or the joy out. Music should be entertaining, it should be something that people would want to listen to.”
Despite favourites, LAX and KT, Rucas, Dejour and Nikhail laying it all out on the stage, the judges gave Mr. Hype the nod.
Hype topped the competition with 581 points, closely followed by Rucas H. E with 581, Dejour -555, LAX KT with 547 points.
“We tried as hard as possible to keep my music and my performance original as possible. We tried to come with ideas and concepts that was outside of the box; things that nobody else would have been thinking of or nobody would expect,” the three-time King stated.
The versatile singer who brings unique blend of Soca music to the stage, indicated that he and his team tried to create music that all people would gravitate towards, and those that would catch on easily.
“People like funny things, people like humour and people like fun and excitement…and once that element is there we know for sure that we are going to be separated from the pack.”
Looking forward to his recording opportunity, Mr. Hype disclosed that he has music that he was unable to release during the season that he might consider recording.
But it is something, he stated, he would have to consult with his team before a firm decision is made.
