BASSETERRE, St. Kitt, Dec. 25.17 – THE 2017 Bacchanal Flag and Wet Fete was one of the most talked about events for the Carnival Season, and it lived up to its much-anticipated hype – even receiving commendations from the National Carnival Committee.

The event saw hundreds of patrons representing their islands by waving flags from nations throughout the region, from Guyana in the south to The Dominican Republic in the north.

Fans who turned up to the Pam Tyson netball facility were consistently dowsed by officers of the St. Christopher and Nevis Fire and Rescue Service, who had their power hoses on hand.

The party continued until the wee hours of the morning, with buckets being used to spread the party flavor, as the likes of Asa  Bantan and Freezy belted their popular lyrics.

The cold weather did not stop the party goers from gyrating and enjoying the atmosphere.

Carnival Chairman, Noah Mills, who spoke with SKNVibes Entertainment, gave commendations to the organizers for the event, pointing out that it is important to diversify Carnival and the activities that encapsulate the entire festival - with the addition of the Flag and Wet Fete.

“It is meant to target specific demographics and psychographic segments of the market, and the Flag and Wet Fete is indeed a new event targeting, what some people label as the younger generation.”

He said that the organizing team would have met with the Carnival Committee April and would have gone through all of their negotiations with the respective stakeholders to ensure that the event was a success.

Sudine Clarke, one of the organizers, explained that the event was birthed out of an idea they garnered after travelling to various Carnivals in the region.

During their travels, they had the opportunity to attend a wet fete and they brought the concept to St. Kitts.

Speaking of the turnout, Clarke disclosed that they were very much impressed since it was the inaugural staging.

“We were a bit skeptical about it in the interim because, we did not expect the turnout that we got. But we did expect it in a sense because we bang promoting it since in April of this year.”

Looking ahead to 2018, the organizer said that they have already started planning and a “bigger and better” fete is expected.
