BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Dec. 29. 17 – IT was an entertaining night of pageantry at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, that saw St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority-sponsored Sheniqua Lanns being crowned National Carnival Queen.
One of the biggest pageants for the Federation, saw Lanns beating out five other beauties for the crown.
She strutted to the title by winning four out of the ten awards on offer, dominating three of the judged segments.
Lanns amassed a total of 1280.5 points, to defeat Sarafina Osbourne, who gained a total of 1266.5 points and Cornella Daniel with 1150 points.
Osbourne took home the Best Interview (256 points), Best Evening Wear (193.5 points), and the Best Question and Answer (219 points) awards.
The new queen was the Best in Swimwear (217 points); the Best in National Pride Costume (214 points); the Best in Performing Talent (219) and Ms. Photogenic.
Daniel was also in winner’s row, picking up the Chairperson’s and the Most Popular Online Contestant Award, while Beliesa McDonald took home the Miss Amity Award.
Lanns would now have bragging rights for a year, and would be representing St. Kitts at a number of regional pageants.
Carnival activities continue this evening with the staging of the finals of the National Senior Calypso finals.
That event is being held at Carnival Village, with a start time of 8:00 p.m.
