Miss Independent made history by becoming the first ever female to capture such a coveted title, since the start of National Carnival in 1971.
Miss Independent gave highly polished performances of her two selections; “Where is De Leadership” and “It Taste the Same” at the National Senior Calypso Monarch show on Friday, 29th December, 2017, to get the judges’ approval. In the process, she outperformed veteran Calypsonians King Ayatollah and Socrates, earning a grand 766 points; 24 points ahead of the 1st runner up with 742 points.
BPW St. Kitts is justifiably proud of Ms. Willett’s accomplishment and wishes her every success, as she continues to demonstrate to the country, the high standard that can be achieved in the calypso art form.
