BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jan.12.2018 – THE Leeward Islands Hurricanes have rocked host, the Jamaica Scorpions on the opening day of their ninth round encounter in the Digicel Four-day Professional Cricket League.

At tea on day one, the Scorpions were locked on 196 for 9, as they fight to post a competitive first innings total.

Winning the toss this morning at Sabina Park, the visitors chose to bowl, and they quickly reaped success when in-form bowler, Jeremiah Louis removed John Campbell for 28 – with the score on 41 for1.

Campbell’s wicket triggered a mini collapse, as Chadwick Walton fell with the score on 61; he was followed by Assad Fudadin, five runs later.

Chaim Holder then removed Paul palmer for eight, leaving the home side struggling on 91 for 4. However, a brilliant half century from Jermaine Blackwood (81), assisted the recovery efforts.

That fight was in vain as the struggles continue, with Blackwood being bowled by Holder.

Sheno Berridge was the pick of the Hurricanes bowlers, bagging 4 for 46, while Holder and Louis both took two wickets each.

The Hurricanes would be looking to wrap up the inning quickly as they seek to build a huge first innings lead to press the Jamaicans.

The visitors currently sit third on the points table with 79.4 points and would be looking to leapfrog the Barbados Pride.
