GIS, 11 January 2018 - The RFA Mounts Bay will be assisting the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) on a number of clean-up projects this weekend.

Crews from the ship will work on cleanup at the DDM building in Macnamara tomorrow Friday, while realignment of the Cane Garden Bay siren, and debris management and painting of buildings at Elmore Stoutt High School will be done on Saturday, January 13.

On Sunday, January 14, the ship’s crew will help to re-establish DDM's administrative hub at the new location on DeCastro Street and clear the access road to the central siren at Russell Hill.

The RFA Mounts Bay is a Bay-class auxiliary landing ship dock of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary which first visited the British Virgin Islands in July for a familiarisation visit.

She returned on September 8 following the passing of Hurricane Irma to assist with immediate humanitarian relief, and again two weeks later immediately following the passage of Hurricane Maria.
