By: Precious Mills

Last Saturday morning, popular reggae sensation out of Jamaica, Etana, participated in a community Talent Tent organised by the Labour Party candidate for Constituency #5, Dr. Norgen Wilson, under the theme, "Talent not violence".

A large crowd of music lovers and other interested individuals gathered at the front stage of the event dubbed "Etana Meets Talent Tent" held at Mount Idle, Sandy Point, St. Kitts.

The audience rocked, swayed and sang along to the familiar homegrown tunes that showcased artistes including C-Money, Kash Man, Norrish, Natty Bishen and Faybo.

Meanwhile, Etana in an interacted performance had the crowd singing along with tunes like Roots, I am Not Afraid and Warrior Love, while she spread the essence of positive living and equality among all human beings often highlighting that no one is better than the other.

Speaking to Dr. Wilson he outlined that the Talent Tent has been the first one coming out of the project which he initiated six months ago and he was very impressed with the singing talents.

He said the upcoming artistes in the community have always communicated the need to have an avenue to channel their energies through music, adding that he had always promised to provide the opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their talent.

Dr. Wilson said it is intended for at least one artiste or group to get a music video on the popular Caribbean TV channel, TEMPO and that would expose national music on the regional and international scene.

It is understood that Etana likes the tune, My Wish by national artistes, Collin "C-Money" Wyatt and Klevron "Kash-Man" Maynard of Sandy Point and plans to promote it.

This was confirmed by Dr. Wilson who indicated that Etana has plans to have it placed on her Web site.

Commenting on Etana’s interest in the tune, C-Money said he believes Etana is interested in My Wish because it is a positive song which captures the interest of the artiste who is well-known to do positive, conscious tunes.

My Wish, which promotes peace, addresses crime and violence, was released last year and was produced by Kitten Purr Riddim.

The beat was compiled by Liquid Line Production official, Marquice "Mr. Quice" Willett
