Ritchen released from prison for Hanley’s murder

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jan 16, 2018 – TWENTY-four-year-old Trevon Ritchen of Upper Durant Avenue, today walked out the court a free man after a no case submission was upheld.

Ritchen and his brother, Souvin Adolfo Ritchen, were arrested and charged for the murder of then 17-year-old Rakeim ‘Rackbo’ Hanley in 2015.

The police had reported in 2015 that based on credible information, the brothers were taken into custody on Saturday (Aug. 29) and were assisting police with their investigation into the matter.

At the Preliminary Inquiry today in the Magistrates Court, SKNVibes understands that following the arguments put forward by the prosecutor, the defense lawyer, Jason Hamilton moved for a no case submission.

That submission was upheld by the Magistrate and the younger Ritchen was released.

However, SKNVibes has learnt that the older brother, Souvin was remanded to stand trial for the murder.

At around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, Hanley was shot while riding a bicycle along Fort Thomas Road and died several hours after at the JNF Hospital.
