BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jan.21, 2018 -H.E. Garden Hotspurs remain at the top of the table, after brushing aside Winners Circle Newtown United 3-1, in the latest round of matches in the SKNFA Premier Division.
Playing before a fair-sized crowd at Warner Park last evening (Jan. 20), Newtown’s Akimba Lawrence opened the scoring in the 5th minute, but a strong performance from Spurs saw them claw their way back.
Kennedy Isles would equalize in the 11th min, before Giovanni Lake put paid to their opponents – netting a double in the 74th & 78th min.
The victory sees them moving to the top of the points table.
Meanwhile, in the first of the doubleheader evening, Elco Limited St. Peter’s saw off a spirited Fast cash saddlers team 2-0.
In an evenly paced game it was the Monkey Hill based unit that proved too much to handle.
A double strike by Dionis Stevens (77th and 80th minutes) was enough to give his team the much needed three points.
The team has found it difficult this season and is in a push to not be regulated to the First Division.
