CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – WORKERS at the Administration Building in Charlestown were forced to evacuate their offices when a fire started at the old power station in the compound earlier today (July 9).
Workers were alerted just after 9.00 a.m. by smoke billowing from the power station, and quickly summoned fire officers from the nearby Charlestown Fire Station.
The firemen succeeded in putting out the fire before it could spread from the power plant. Office workers were told to take the rest of the day off, however.
At this time, Fire and Rescue officials have not released an official statement as to the cause of the blaze.
