January 26th, 2018 -- The St.Kitts Diabetes Association, today visited the Irish Town Primary school as part of it's 2018 plan of action, to continue screening amongst the younger members of our population, for evidence of diabetes or the risk factors predisposing them to this condition.
Approximately twenty percent of the school population was tested, drawn from the grades 5 and 6. The data collected included weight, height, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The students seemed quite eager to participate in this venture and with one or two exceptions, readily cooperated with the testing staff.
It is our hope that at the end of this exercise, we can have a better idea as to the state of affairs with respect to diabetes and it's risk factors among our younger members of the community.
