26th January, 2018 -- Christophe Harbour announced three major awards that have been presented to its staff recently.
The awards were announced at the annual Employee End of Year Party, 13th January, at the Royal St. Kitts Resort.
The three awards are Manager of the year 2017, which was won by Viera Galloway, Employee of the Year - Front of House 2017, won by Ervin Browne and Employee of the Year - Back of House 2017, won by Lorenzo Liburd.
The Director of Human Resources at Christophe Harbour, Carolyn Yard, commented on the importance of the awards, saying it is all about recognising excellence among all our staff.
The basis of the annual awards is derived from the quarterly awards. Those who are successful in the quarterly awards are nominated for the annuals.
However, Yard said the Departments have the option of nominating someone based on a particular set of criteria that are all linked to excellent performance, having the right attitude and also to capture any action an employee carried out that went beyond the call of duty.
Yard said, “The response from employees has been positive… The response to those persons nominated has been very positive. The nominees and the winners set an example for others.”
The persons who are nominated are recognised by their peers as persons who go beyond the call of duty, and who, in fact, are role models for their department, Yard explained.
Lorenzo talked about his achievement. “It is hard to put it into words, but it is great to know that your work is appreciated… What I like most about Christophe Harbour are the people, working as a team and interacting with guests. You just have to be yourself with a good attitude,” Lorenzo stated.
Viera Galloway is the 2017 Manager of the Year, and for Viera, the award came very much as a surprise. But with only a few months at Christophe Harbour, Viera must have made a remarkable impression.
“I was overjoyed that night. I really did not expect it, but I continue to give thanks for those around me who are able to mould me into the manager that I am today here at Christophe Harbour.”
And speaking about what she likes most about being at Christophe Harbour, she admits there are several notable things, but for her, it was about relationships.
“One of the important things I realise is that we kind of move as a family unit, I don’t just say this about the internal stakeholders, but our external ones as well - our members, our guests, our customers. We have a very close-nit family here, and that’s one the things I cherish about working here,” Viera concluded.
