Garden Hotspurs top of the table after Match Day 12

By: SKNFA, Press Release

January 30th, 2018 -- Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs has shot up to the top of the SNFA National Bank Premier League table after edging SOL Island Auto Supplies Conaree F.C. 1-0 on Sunday at the Warner Park. Alexis Saddler scored in the 81st minute after both teams tussled for much of the match to get the opening goal. It was a tense battle, especially in the second half mixed with hard tackles, rough play and counter attacking football. Conaree had the better of the chances but failed to put them away or to test the goalkeeper, who incidentally is a former Conaree player.

The intensity of the game even led to red card for Conaree after Ahijah Wilkes ran off the bench to engage Hotspurs players in a skirmish close to the side-lines. He was immediately sent to the locker room. Coach St. Clair Morris said he urged his players to defend well and pressure the Conaree defence, which was key to their victory. “This was a test for Spurs, because we played three games in nine days and that’s a great accomplishment. We won two and draw one,” Coach Morris said. “Being at the top of the table doesn’t matter. We will just take one game at a time,” he added.

For Coach Alexis Morris of Conaree, his team lacks concentration throughout the entire duration of the match, which is something they have to work on for their upcoming matches. “I think my guys were really ready for this game and I think we lost on one play—three mistakes in one play (that led to goal). I think what we need to do is basically concentrate to the end,” he stated.
