BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jan. 31.2018 – PARLIAMENTARY Representative for Constituency Three, Hon. Konris Maynard has disclosed that the fire at his Constituency office last November has been ruled to be electrical in origin.
Responding to an SKNVibes question on the fire, Maynard explained that the Fire Department’s investigations are still ongoing however, their report indicated that “this fire, like many other fires with similar patterns showed the same signs of that of an electrical nature”.
On November 27 last year, fire officials received a report of a fire at Maynard’s office.
“From an initial assessment, the eastern side of the Constituency Office, where the meeting hall is located, has suffered a significant amount of fire damage. Contents in that area have also been significantly damaged. The office section of the Constituency Office building has escaped any major damage and should be usable in the upcoming days for continued meetings with my constituents,” Maynard said after the fire.
He told reporters today that they had received a proposal from the insurance company but are awaiting the go ahead before they can begin renovations.
The building is currently being used to for administrative purposes, as they held a meeting at the burnt location last evening.
