Music Festival lineup to be announced today

By: Staff Reporter, Staff Reporter
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Feb. 16.2018 – ORGANIZERS of the St. Kitts Music Festival will today confirm the full slate of artistes for the 2018 edition.

The Festival has become one of the top events in the Caribbean, and organizers have been making a concerted effort over the last several years to announce the lineup early.

At a press conference in December, the planning committee announced three of the headliners for the Festival.

Spice, Patti Labelle and Lauryn Hill were the early confirmed performers for the June 27- July 01 event.

The final roster of artistes will be announced at a special ceremony on Bank Street, where the organizers are also slated to launch the festival’s new website and signal the start of on-line ticket sales and a new price structure for festival tickets.

According to a statement from organizers, there will be significant benefits for persons purchasing tickets early, through online discounts that would be provided leading up to the month of the festival.

In keeping with the new thrust to plan the festival earlier, the festival organisers have addressed an issue with making an early announcement.

“One of the concerns raised over the years by potential visitors and local fans focused on what use to be the late announcements of performing artistes. Potential overseas visitors, in particular, will therefore welcome the early announcement, as it will assist them greatly in making their travel plans to come to St. Kitts.

“It was a result of recognising these concerns that Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant, under whose portfolio the Music Festival falls, since 2015 had given the undertaking that such delayed announcements will become a thing of the past in the new marketing strategies of the festival,” the statement disclosed.
