CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A man who was arrested in Charlestown by the Task Force Unit on Tuesday (July 7) after a quantity of cocaine was found in his possession, was ordered to make Her Majesty’s Prison his domicile for the next 18 months.

Leon Isaac, also known as Moterron, was sentenced to jail by Magistrate Yasmine Clarke in the Charlestown Magistrate Court after pleading guilty to the charges of possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

Magistrate Clarke sentenced him on the cocaine possession charge but cautioned him on the others.
Isaac, who was wanted on a larceny charge, was stopped in Charlestown and a routine search unearthed a quantity of crack cocaine.

The court was told that Isaac begged the arresting officer for a chance, saying that he owes some money to the court and he brought the drugs on Nevis to sell in order to fulfill that obligation.

Isaac however denied the allegation and told the court that that small amount of drugs could not have served such purpose and he had it for personal use.

Before sentencing him, Magistrate Clarke reminded the defendant that he had appeared before her in February to answer cocaine-related charges and was lucky enough to be fined. She also reminded him of his previous conviction and informed him that this time he is going to jail.

After hearing that he would be sent to prison, Isaac said: “I know you won’t give me a chance again.” When asked by the Magistrate where he worked, Isaac said, “I ain’t got no education, so me can’t get no office work. I got to do little fishing.”
