Two presented with 2017/2018 Catherine Wilson Scholarship

By: Emerald Healthcare, Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO students of the Dr. William Connor Primary School were on Friday (Feb.16) presented with their impressive prizes, having been named the 2017/2018 winners of the Catherine Wilson Scholarship Programme.

In the presence of the staff and student body of the school, representatives of Emerald Healthcare informed Zanisha Browne of Grade Five and Nylah Richards of Grade Six that they had each won US$800 as part of the programme.

All students of Grades Four, Five and Six of that learning institution were asked to submit essays describing their mothers, while outlining sacrifices they would have made for the betterment of their families.

A total of nine (9) entries were submitted, three of which did not meet the criteria, thus leading to them being disqualified.

And of the remaining six (6), Browne and Richards’ were selected as the winning pieces.

Dr. Raselette Hunt, before handing over the cheques, informed the student body that she received  her educational foundation at that school. She told the young minds that they are all endowed with potential and possibilities.

She explained that the scholarship was named in honour of her mother because, while both parents were instrumental in her upbringing, her mother was the one who pushed her to realise her full potential.

Both winners told Emerald Healthcare that they were excited about being the recipients of the scholarships; Browne shed tears of joy while Richards was beaming with smiles.

The scholarship is expected to run annually.
