Busy round of activities of the Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E. Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton

    Februarv 19th 2018 -- His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP has completed another busy round of activities. On Friday morning, His Excellency attended the Launch of a Post Emancipation Exhibition at The National Museum. On display at a special viewing for the media were the original Proclamation Abolishing Slavery in 1834, the Master and Servants Act 1839 and other documentation relating to Indentured Servants from Madeira and India.

     

    In remarks made at the ceremony, His Excellency noted that here again were features of local history to be researched to fill the dearth of local history about which so many persons complain.
     
    On Friday night, His Excellency hosted 'An Evenig of the Arts' in aid of the St. Kitts Diabetes Association. This special Evening featured outstanding vocal soloists Jermaine James, Patricia Harris, Jewel Wattley and Pauline Herbert and a duet by Jermaine and Sanyar, former Minister Rupert Herbert on the pan, the spoken word by Loughlin Tatem and Piano accompaniment by Dijon Webbe for several of the artistes. This stellar exposition of artistic talent evoked rave reviews from all present and is the inaugural Evening of the Arts to be hosted at the State Room, Government House, a venue which in the past hosted many balls and other cultural activities. His Excellency urged all of our nationals to support the outreach activities of the St. Kitts Diabetes Association.
     
    On Saturday, Government House Grounds were the venue for another inaugural event, National Volunteer Day Luncheon for our Senior Citizens. Over 200 senior citizens were entertained with hifi music, a string band and Masquerades. The senior citizens danced and sang and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch. They were greeted by His Excellency The Governor-General and the Prime Minister and other
    Springfield, Basseterre.

    A great time was had by all!
