Amazing designs, sexy models steam up Vivid Designs Modelling Show

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BENEATH a white tent ceiling at Michael’s Bar and Restaurant last night (July 10), patrons were treated to a scintillating display of modelling as Vivid Designs (VD) celebrated its fourth anniversary with a Modelling Show and Dance Party.

The event also signalled the official launch of the VD Media + Promo House - which is a division of Vivid Designs that offers services such as commercial photography, audio/video production, event planning and promotion as well as artiste/model management. It is owned and operated by Diego Spanner.

The show got off to a late start, but patrons were pleased with the remarkable designs and styles showcased from local designers and boutiques.

The makeup was intensifying and well-applied by Miami-based Kittitian makeup artist Kymberlee Ward, as the models of Prestige Model Agency and S Model Management strutted the runway in grand style.

The show kicked off with some fireworks and designs of the Federation’s leading designer, Brown Sugar, who delivered her classic linen designs that she is known for, along with a few surprises of silk and satin materials best suited for work or church attendance.

Definitely for the sweet and sexy were the designs of Cane Juice - a clothing line designed exclusively for women and inspired solely by West Indian Culture. This segment of the show heated up the activities as the models came out in earth and dark tone T-shirts, complimented by itsy-bitsy boy-shorts for an overall sexy look.

Patrons were next treated to the works of Andre Edwards, a promising designer whose line is called Reinkarnation. Edwards’ pieces had certainly impressed the patrons with timeless New York-inspired designs that celebrates women and urge them to be who they want to be - daring, mod or classy.

Following Reinkarnation was Plush Accessories by Kirah Griffin, who showcased jewellery, belts, shades and signature black tops that donned the Plush logo.

Two of the top leading boutiques in St. Kitts, SK Fashion Plus and Allysa’s, also showcased the latest trends that persons can make a statement in at the upcoming Culturama celebrations.

One of the impressive styles came from Allysa’s boutique, as three leggy models showcased silver, gold, fuchsia metallic swimwear that are must have for this summer.

The final designs for the night came from Barbadian-bred Rifka Maycock of the very Caribbean-inspired styles of Riff Raff Designs.
They indeed ended the show with a bang just before the finale of parading models in Vivid Design Tees.

Riff Raff pieces were of fun, bright colours, teasing and alluring styles that complement a woman’s physique.

During a previous interview with SKNVibes, Maycock said that her designs are always very comfortable and easy to wear clothing.

“I love working with fabrics that have some stretch to give the wearer a little freedom, even in the sexier pieces.

“I love working with colours and I also try with my designs to give the wearer choices. So, I make reversible or multi-functional garments,” she said.

Following Riff Raff was the finale and the man of the hour with the vision, Diego Spanner, took a bow and applause from the crowd on a job well done.

The runway lit up and fireworks once again illuminated the sky as the fashion segment of the Vivid Design Modelling Show came to an end.

Some of the guest appearances came from dancers Jo-Jo and Davina while Hip-Hop artiste Kittitian Brenton Osbourne dished out one of his hits - Hustle.

The night continued with the Dance Party aspect of the fourth anniversary celebrations, with music provided by the Kollision Band and Evolution Sounds.
