KINGSTON, Jamaica – PULSE INVESTMENTS CEO Kingsley Cooper said that this year would be his company’s last participation in organising the Miss Jamaica Universe selection.

He also said that his company is prepared to organise a judge’s selection on behalf of the Miss Universe, but would only do so if someone worthy of the title could be found.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Cooper said that this would be the final Miss Jamaica Universe that Pulse would send to the pageant.

“If she is not exceptional, we will not participate,” he stated.

The company had originally given up the license to stage the Jamaica preliminary to Miss Universe. But according to the online newspaper, the Donald Trump-led Miss Universe Organisation has requested a Jamaican queen in the competition this year.

The competition is open to young women between the ages of 18-26, who have never been married or had a child. They must also possess poise, beauty of face and body, intelligence and awareness.

This year's event will be held at Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas on August 23.

Now in its 58th year, the Miss Universe Pageant features some of the planet's most beautiful and articulate women from some 85 countries, and is watched by close to a billion viewers worldwide.

Venezuelan Dayana Mendoza is the reigning Miss Universe.
