BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar.02.2018 -POLICE are working to ascertain the motive behind the gruesome hacking death of 18-year-old Naomi Finch and 21-year-old Jamilla Finch.
Reports received by SKNVibes News, states that the sister’s deaths was the result of chop wounds to their bodies.
At around 1:00 p.m. yesterday (Mar. 01), police received reports of an incident in the Keys area. When they visited the home and conducted their initial investigations they found the sisters lying close to the seashore, both with what appeared to be chop wounds.
The District Medical Officer pronounced both young ladies ddead, as the Forensic Unit processed the scene and items of evidential value were taken into police custody.
Police have confirmed that one person is in custody as investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Services, Gender Affairs, and Community Development expressed its deep sadness on learning of the double homicide of the young women from Keys Village
In a media statement issued last evening, a spokesman for the Ministry noted that the deaths of these young women are apparently the result of “gender-based violence, which the Ministry fully condemns”.
“The Ministry, in particular, the Department of Gender Affairs, wishes to admonish the public that domestic and gender-based violence can never be the 0solution to handling conflict. Our people need to be more tolerant of each other, practice emotional maturity and learn to exercise restraint instead of yielding to the urge to become violent when conflicts arise,’ the spokesperson said.
