Urgent message from the NEMA

By: NEMA, Message

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been alerted to a Tsunami Watch Alert, circulating on social media. The general public is hereby informed that this message was originally disseminated on September 5, 2012 at 14:42 (UTC), after an Earthquake impacted Costa Rica, with epicenter in Nicoya Peninsula.

The Department advices the general public to consider the timing and dissemination of this message to be malicious in intent and to desist from circulating this message.

Deputy NDC, Mrs. Claricia Langley-Stevens further advises that the rough seas and high surf alerts issued by the MET Services Department at R.L.B International Airport currently being experienced on St Kitts and Nevis, and other Leeward Islands are not related to tsunami activity.
