Barbados Parliament to be dissolved, ahead of election announcement

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar. 06.2018 – THE Freundel Stuart administration in Barbados has allowed the entire life of the government to run out, thus allowing for the dissolving of government today.

That has now paved the way for the declaration of elections on the island which is constitutionally due this year.

SKNVibes News was told that with parliament being dissolved, it gives the government 90 days to make an announcement on a date for elections.

The Stuart administration is under mounting pressure over the long-standing problem surrounding the South Coast debacle.

In November, sewage leaks caused a stench in the area, and to date, the problem has not been resolved.

It has reportedly affected business establishments in the area, along with the citizens and residents on the Coast

The United States Embassy, the Canadian High Commission and others had earlier this year issued travel advisories for their citizens about going to the South Coast.

That came as a British tourist fell ill in what is believed to be a waterborne ailment resulting from the sewage leaks.

That is one of a number of problems that the government faced.

The Opposition-Barbados Labour Party, led by Mia Mottley has been in full campaign mode since the year began.

They are hopeful of unseat the Freundel Stuart government.
