BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar. 09.2018 – WITH a mission of constructing human settlements across St. Kitts, the National Housing Corporation continued with its community development when it moved to assist Albert Peters with a new bathroom facility.
Officials from the NHC and Ambassador, Jonel Powell took a walk through Peter’s home, which is one of a number of such facilities being constructed in the Irish Town area.
Peter’s home was one which still does not have any bathroom or toilet facilities.
People’s Action Movement (PAM), Caretaker for Constituency Two, Ambassador Jonel Powell said the purpose of the walk through was to get an update on the progress that they have made on the construction.
The absence of the bathroom is a problem that is prevalent on the Central Basseterre area, Powell indicated.
“With the help of NHC, Mr. Peters is most recent beneficiary of a bathroom being added to their home.,” he said.
This is the second such partnership in over the last few years.
Just recently, the Corporation donated a refrigerator to a church in Bourreau.
General Manager of NHC, Elreter Simpson-Browne said their motto, “Committed to Family”, encapsulates them working to enhance communities and that the donation of the fridge highlights that fact.
Additionally, they reached out to assist the victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria through the donation of a bottled water, which all fits into their shift from just being a Housing Agency to one of Human Settlement.
To this end, she disclosed that they are not only interested in housing anymore, but rather, in the entire definition of Human Settlement.
“That means we are all about building our communities; bringing families together. I am very happy that NHC can help in this regard.”
