BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar.11.2018 – HE was the source person with responsibility for ensuring coordination during natural disasters, but Carl Herbert has called it time on his 20-year career at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
His work was yesterday (Mar. 9) celebrated at a general meeting of the disaster agency’s managers.
The managers joined with the Deputy National Disaster Coordinator, Mrs. Claricia Langley-Stevens and Staff at NEMA to bid farewell to National Disaster Coordinator, Carl Herbert.
Mrs. Langley-Stevens said she and her team would like to record their immense gratitude to the long-term Disaster Coordinator and to remind of the positive impact he would have made on Disaster Management in the Federation.
“We, his colleagues, of course would have benefited from Mr. Herbert’s service, both professionally and personally,” She said, “and we now encourage him to explore the countless blessings that will inevitably be bestowed upon him, as a result of his impeccable public service.”
SKNVibes has learnt that Herbert retired in January.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Youth, Hon. Shawn Richards – who has responsibility for NEMA- commended Herbert for ensuring continuity in the Disaster Management Lead Office.
A private farewell ceremony was held for the stalwart, who told representatives in his final meeting to, "Think before you act. It all depends on you.”
