BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar. 11.2018 – FOLLOWING several investigations on Nevis, police have charged two individuals with the robbery of several salons on the island.
According to the police, investigations into a number of beauty salon break-ins that took place in Nevis led the officers to execute a search warrant in St. Kitts.
Resulting from those warrants, law enforcement officers have arrested and charged Deslia DeSuza and Akeem Whyte.
Reports from the police indicated that between late last year and the end of February, several salons were broken into.
A search was conducted on Sunday (March 04) on the premises of Whyte and DeSuza of Parrys Village, Monkey Hill by Officers of the Criminal Investigations Departments from both St. Kitts and in Nevis.
As a result of the operation, large amounts of a varying hair products and a television set were recovered and taken into Police custody.
According to the police, the items were valued in excess of $40, 000.
“26-year-old Akeem Whyte was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of Larceny, one count of Building Break-in and Larceny, as well as two counts of Receiving. 30-year-old Deslia "Dez" DeSuza was charged with two counts of Building Break-in and Larceny and two counts of Receiving. They were both charged on Tuesday (March 06),” police confirmed in a statement.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
