Dr. William Connor repeats as Primary School Champs

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar. 19.2018 – THE team from the Dr. William Connor Primary School put in a sterling performance to retain the trophy and title of RAMS Primary School Champions.

The school ran away with 34 medals overall - 19 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 12 Bronze medals.

They were followed by the Sandy Point Primary with 30 medals, Dieppe Bay Primary (13) and the Cayon Primary School (14).

Cheered on by a large crowd, the student-athletes dominated the final day’s proceeding to win its third consecutive title in as many years.

Public Relations Officer at the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletics Association (SKNAAA), Kiloney Johnson described the event as a success.

He told SKNVibes Sports that despite the increase in the ticket prices, parents and scholastic fans were happy to be supporting the younger generation of student-athletes.

“Both days we saw, what we would describe as, outstanding numbers for the general public.”

Concerns were raised over the price increases for the meet this year. However, the SKNAAA reported that the Kim collins stadium, which was the most expensive, was sold out yesterday (Mar. 18).

Johnson congratulated the student-athletes for their outstanding performances on the track, which he noted brought loud support from those in attendance.

“Congratulations must go out to Dr. William Connor for three-peating, and also to the other schools for giving a good account of themselves,” Johnson said.

All of the attention now turns to the 2018 TDC Interschool Championships slated for the 24-25 March, at the same venue.

Over 800 student-athletes were registered to participate during the RAMS Primary Championships, while another 200 will compete at the TDC Championship.
