BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- Mar.26.2018 – FOLLOWING the People’s Labour Party (PLP) second annual convention on Saturday (Mar. 24), Prime Minister, Dr. Timothy Harris has been returned as the National Leader.
According to a statement from the Party, PM Harris and other members were all unanimously returned to their positions on the Executive Committee.
Deputy Leader, Akilah Byron-Nisbett retained her position, while Warren Thompson was returned as the National Chairman.
Craig Tuckett remains the Deputy National Chairman, Myrtilla Williams as the National Secretary and Christophe Greaux as the Deputy National Secretary.
Additionally, Ms Tishanna Norford and Mrs Sonia Henry as Women’s Arm Representative; Manasses Huggins and Damian Weekes as Youth Arm Representatives; Alexis Nisbett as the National Party Organizer; Mr Victor Earle as National Treasurer; Ms Claudette Thompson, Deputy National Treasurer.
During the convention, which was attended by an increased crowd, Dr. Harris gave his Party’s commitment to the Team Unity construct.
“When the elections are called there will basically only be two choices, there is never a third-party choice, never will be!”
He stated that there will be only two options at the polls, noting that a third party will not be feasible for a small island state like St. Kitts and Nevis.
Dr. Harris explained that the people must either choose the Unity Administration or return to Dr. Denzil Douglas Government.
He noted that people are often caught up with the number of seats that each of the parties bring to the coalition government.
“We have to understand it is a team, it is one movement; each part of the body necessary to give sustenance and support to the entire movement,” he reminded.
The 2017 National Convention was held at the Patsy Allers Playfield, as the Committee seeks to rotate locations in the various constituencies.
