27th March, 2018 -- One of the leading insurance companies in the region has pledged its commitment to continue supporting the fight against breast cancer in St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean region.
The Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) showed tangible support in the fight against breast cancer, when a cheque valued at US$5,000 was presented to the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation during a weekend fund-raiser.
The occasion was the Pink Cocktail Party, one of the important fund-raisers on the annual calendar of the Foundation. The fund-raiser attracted a wide cross-section of individuals to the event held at Carambola Beach Club on South Friars Bay, on Saturday, 24th March.
In presenting the cheque, ICWI Business Development Officer Ms. Nordia Dobbs outlined the company’s commitment to the cause in the region.
Dobbs said, “ICWI is pleased to partner with Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, once again, in the fight against breast cancer. We are fully cognisant of the pain, suffering and financial burden this disease has inflicted on so many women in the region. This is the reason why ICWI remains committed in joining forces with the many women, families and organisations that continue to valiantly fight against breast cancer in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
She continued, “For five decades, ICWI has been like an angel for women. We have recognized women with our signature Road Angel motor policy which gives preferred rates and a plethora of free added benefits to our female policy holders. ICWI will continue to support our women, not only in St. Kitts and Nevis, but throughout the region, where we engage in similar initiatives that aid in the fight against breast cancer.”
Essence of Hope President Pam Armstrong said it was an honour to have the support of ICWI.
“On behalf of Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and its members, I say thank you to ICWI for, once again, being a major part in the fight against breast cancer. We are grateful to have ICWI being a part of our fight against breast cancer and cancer on a whole,” Armstrong said.
She said also, “Right here in St. Kitts and Nevis, cancer is on the rise, and it is such a privilege that we are getting help from ICWI, not only monetarily but in planning our fundraising efforts. It gives me great pleasure in accepting this cheque, on behalf of Essence of Hope and the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis. Thank you. We appreciate it.”
The Pink Cocktail Party included Auction Tables, Games, and a presentation by the Movado Modeling Agency.
The Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation offers women in need of important assistance required in the medical treatment of their cancers.
Another of its major fund-raisers is the annual walk in October, of which ICWI is the main sponsor.
