BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Mar. 27.2018 -  A number of government agencies are currently in the process of working to rollout the proposed $500 per month benefit for households making less than $3000.

The Government, according to Prime Minister, Dr. Timothy Harris, is eyeing a period before the 2018 Independence celebrations to roll out the programme.

He said the full extent of the programme will be announced at a later date, however, “it is a work in progress”.

Minister of State, Wendy Phipps revealed that the Ministries of Social Services, Housing, Sustainable Development, Finance, Education, and Labour are currently reviewing the entire process and who are expected to benefit.

“In short, we will set up a committee that will get the work done as quickly as possible in a manner again that avoids the squandermania of the public funds,” Dr. Harris stated.

He added that there will be a transparent system that determines who are the persons that will fall under this category.

SKNVibes understands that a number of persons are currently out in the communities conducting surveys that will ascertain the level of contributions expected from the government.

The government promised to “supplement income” during the campaign, where disadvantaged families will receive the monthly payment.

Many criticized the Dr. Harris-led Administration for their slothful movement to have the programme implemented.

The government has called on those that will receive the monies to put it to good use.
