Caribbean Lottery Sponsors T20 Cricket Series in Nevis

By: Caribbean Lottery, Press Release

Charlestown, Nevis – 04 April 2018: There was excitement in the air as a T20 cricket series in St. Kitts and Nevis began on March 17. Caribbean Lottery has sponsored one of the four franchises for $3,000EC in the Paradise Beach T20 Explosion.

Caribbean Lottery’s sponsored team – the Super Sixers – has done well in the competition so far. The other three teams are High Voltage, Smashers and Big Rock. The finals will take place on April 14, 2018.

“We are delighted to support this tournament, which is a fresh new start for cricket on the island. The game is such a vibrant element in Caribbean culture and life,” said Sabina Harrinarain, Business Development Associate at Caribbean Lottery, adding that this sponsorship represents the company’s commitment to sports and youth development initiatives.

Paradise Beach T20 Explosion Event Coordinator on the island of Nevis, Vijay Harrinarain noted that the competition is being organized in a holistic way: “We are thinking long term about the development of the sport, the players and the community,” he said.

“We want to reignite interest and build the T20 competition at the local level, while instilling the highest levels of professionalism in the young players. For example, we are teaching them how to properly conduct media interviews and other skills – not just how to play a good game of cricket. We are motivating them at all levels.

“Most importantly, we are keen to bring the private sector on board,” added Harrinarain. “We greatly appreciate the support of Caribbean Lottery in helping us to achieve our goals. We are seeking to build a tournament that will be self-sufficient. It will take a little time, but we are happy that Caribbean Lottery has come on board at this time.”

Harrinarain noted that all the events are family friendly, and that there are plans to increase fan engagement: “We want to change the way people think about cricket.”
