BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Apr. 4.2018 – THE St. Kitts-Nevis National female football team has been drawn with Trinidad & Tobago, Dominica, US Virgin Islands and Grenada, for the 2018 Concacaf Caribbean Women’s Qualifier.

The draw for the qualifiers took place on March 28, at Concacaf’s Headquarters in Miami, FL, USA., with the games slated to begin on May 5 with the first of the two-stage qualifiers.

For the first stage of the regional qualifiers, the 23 participating member associations were sorted into three groups of five and two groups of four teams.

Hosts for round one are, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana.

The second round of the Caribbean qualifying will be disputed between August 18-26, among the first stage group winners, while the top three finishers of the final round will qualify for the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship.

General Secretary of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association, Stanley Jacobs told SKNVibes Sports that the Caribbean Football Union challenge series being played this month will be used as a warm up for the qualifiers.

The challenge series will be played at the Warner Park Stadium on 18, 20 and 22nd.

“That tournament is specifically designed to prepare the various Caribbean teams for that qualifying tournament.”

Jacobs expressed confidence that the SKNFA can assemble a formidable unit to compete and progress from the qualifiers.

He said that they are expected to draft in several overseas players for the tournament.

“We will assemble a very strong team that will do well in the qualifying round of the CFU qualification matches. We are looking to bring home about eight to nine players that are playing at a very high level…”

The General Secretary did reveal that a squad is currently in training for the challenge series.

St. Kitts and Nevis will be playing all of their games in Trinidad and Tobago.
