Charlestown, Nevis, April 24, 2018 -- Frankie Powell, a 49-year-old father of one is a recent winner of The St. Kitts and Nevis Pick 4 game, walking away with $21,665. He purchased the winning ticket at the Samuel Hawkins Drive Lotto outlet.
Powell reveals that despite usually using the Quick Pick feature to choose his numbers, on this occasion he used his daughter’s cell phone number. He also explained that his win was owed, in part, to an unwitting mistake by the clerk. “It’s a funny story. I only asked the clerk for a ticket for one draw, but she misunderstood and gave me for the whole day. As she was new, I told her not to worry about cancelling the order because I felt that the extra tickets were winners.”
Powell returned to the store where he had purchased his tickets to check if the winning numbers matched the numbers he had chosen. Upon hearing the exciting news, he said, “I was extremely happy but not overwhelmed as it took a while for the news to sink in.”
While still trying to absorb his win, Powell said that he kept the news to himself. Once it had sunk in more, he began to tell his family and friends who were all very excited for him.
“I plan to put most of the money towards my mortgage,” he revealed.
When asked how long he had been playing the lottery, Mr. Powell said, “I’ve been playing the lottery every weekend for a long time, but this is only the second time I’ve played Pick 4.” His decision to try a new game paid off for him and he said he would definitely continue to play. He also offered some advice to players, “You have to be in it to win it, play big!”
Business Development Associate, Ms. Sabina Harrinarain, is thrilled for Mr. Powell, “I am so happy for him, he is a most deserving winner and he has shown how trying something new can bring great results!”
Pick 4 offers players plenty of opportunities to win as there are four draws per day, seven days a week.
