PAM leaders rallying for more seat at next elections

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Apr. 26.2018 – THOUGH General Elections are constitutionally set for 2020, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) party is marshalling its troops to pick up all six seats that they are contesting.

The party is contesting for the seats in Constituencies One, Two, Four, Five, Six and Eight. However, they only hold four of those seats.

Newly elected Chairman of the PAM, Jonel Powell told supporters at the party’s 53rd Convention on Sunday (Apr. 22) that the campaign should start immediately if it has not yet begun.

Fueled by the dedication, sacrifice and patriotism, Powell assured that as the party chairman he will personally see to it that party executives, candidates and loyal soldiers work tirelessly to lead the party in all six constituencies”.

He stated that in those constituencies where his party will not field candidates, they will lend support to their partners in the coalition.

“That is my ultimate goal as party chairman. A successful Team Unity can only work with a powerful People’s Action Movement. It is only together that we can succeed. It is not all eight that we want, we taking all eleven in this country,” Powell emphasized.

Leader of the People’s Action Movement, Shawn Richard said there is growing anxiety about the coming general elections, noting that the PAM is entering a new phase of readiness as they look ahead to defend the record and position as the leading party in parliament.

“Let it be clear our mission is to increase our seat count from four to six by achieving success in constituency Number Two for Jonel Powell and Number Six for Vernon Connor.”

He told supporters that the party needs to permanently retire the old guard in St. Paul’s, pointing out that “that day maybe coming sooner rather than later”.

“Therefore, the rallying call for our troops of patriotic members and citizens is simple: together we must succeed.”

He added that once the party stays united and determined in its cause to contribute to national development “there will be no room for the return of misrulers”.

Expressing confidence, Deputy Prime Minister, Richard said that looking ahead he believes that a strong PAM with an even stronger agenda, detractors will fail against the party.
