Davis died of multiple gunshot wounds, autopsy report

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 08.2018 – AN autopsy conducted on the remains of Sergeant Dwight Davis, by Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Valery Alexandrov, concluded that his death was due to multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
     
    The autopsy was conducted by Dr. Alexandrov on May 05, according to the police.
     
    On Thursday, May 03, at around 7 a.m. police received a report of a body found on a dirt road in the vicinity of the railway line in Dieppe Bay by two passers-by.
     
    Several units responded, and upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of 37-year-old Sergeant Dwight Davis lying on the ground with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer.
     
    Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Timothy Harris, opposition leader Dr. Denzil Douglas amongst others have expressed condolences on the death of the officer.
     
    Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley, who was off island at the time of the incident has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
     
    “We have lost a dedicated Police Officer. Sergeant Dwight Davis had a passion for policing and was committed to his profession. He often went the extra mile to ensure that the task at hand was completed. He accepted the challenges of policing and was fearless in the execution of his duties. And, he did so diligently and in a professional manner. The void created by his death will certainly be hard to fill,” he said.
     
    Police investigations into the matter are ongoing. They are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialing 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468 or the nearest Police Station.
