By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 15.2018 – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has held three (3) persons for questioning in the shooting death of Sergeant Dwight Davis, one on Friday (May 11) and the other two on Saturday (May 12).

Davis’ body was found by two passers-by on a dirt road in the vicinity of the railway line in Dieppe Bay on the morning of May 3.

Several units responded, and upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of 37-year-old Sergeant Dwight Davis lying on the ground with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer.

Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Timothy Harris, opposition leader Dr. Denzil Douglas amongst others have expressed condolences on the death of the officer. Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley, who was off island at the time of the incident has also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.

“We have lost a dedicated Police Officer. Sergeant Dwight Davis had a passion for policing and was committed to his profession. He often went the extra mile to ensure that the task at hand was completed. He accepted the challenges of policing and was fearless in the execution of his duties. And, he did so diligently and in a professional manner. The void created by his death will certainly be hard to fill,” he said.

A police statement said that the team assigned to the investigation is diligently working to have the case solved. The RSCNPF is asking that anyone who may have information to call any Police Station or the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468.

A reward of EC $50,000 is being offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the death of Sergeant Davis. Investigations into the matter is ongoing.
