BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 21, 2018 - - THE St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) last evening (May 20) unveiled its new executive that will lead the party for the next year, and used the occasion to unveil three of its four new candidates.

The party held its 86th Annual National Convention at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, and during the public session the party disclosed its new leadership, emphasizing that it has elected its first female Deputy Leader, in the likes of the Hon. Marcella Liburd.

Opposition leader, Dr. Denzil Douglas returned to the helm of the party as the National Leader, Marcella Liburd, Deputy Leader and ascending to the Chairmanship is the party’s caretaker for Constituency Eight, Dr. Terrance Drew.

Meshach Alford was elected National Vice Chairman, while Diana Wills-Humphrey (National Secretary) and Karen Crossman (National Assistant Secretary) were also on the executive.

The party announced replacements for three of their four vacant constituency representatives.

In Constituency One, former principal Jeffery Hanley was confirmed as the replacement for Earl Asim Martin.

For Constituency Five, Kenny Douglas was announced as the representative who will challenge Deputy Prime Minister, Shawn Richards for his seat.

Leon Natta will lock horns with Prime Minister, Dr. Timothy Harris for the Constituency Seven seat.

The party leader told reporters at various press conferences that he will be announcing all of the new candidates for the various constituencies.

However, the SKNLP did not release the name of its representative in Constituency Four.

SKNVibes understands that the party has not officially confirmed its representative in that Constituency.

The SKNLP has been in the rebuilding phase, according to Dr. Denzil Douglas, following the stinging defeat at the 2015 polls and has expressed confidence in the winning at the next elections which are constitutionally due by 2020.
