Roadtown, Tortola - Premier and Minister for Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE has commended the organisers of this year’s music festival for their prompt submission of the BVI Music Festival’s 2009 Financial and Economic Report.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the BVI Music Festival Cane Garden Bay Limited, Mr. Daniel Cline, the Premier stated “I was very pleased to receive the report and it will soon be submitted to Cabinet for consideration.”

He noted too that the report will be “laid on the Table of the House of Assembly and perhaps it might even be debated.”

The Premier added that “for many years, Government has been trying to get the various reports from Government departments, statutory boards and some organisations that receive a grant but it is only in very few cases that reports are submitted.”

Honourable O’Neal is hoping that the example set by the committee will be emulated by other organisations or departments that received Government assistance. “I am so glad to see that this committee which has just been organized has submitted the report so promptly. I do hope that others will follow your fine example,” the Premier stated.

He also wished the committee continued success as it attempts to improve the music festival. “I wish the committee well as it continues to organise and improve the BVI Music Festival making it bigger and better and I believe that any profits made will go back into the Cane Garden Bay community and other communities around,” he said.

The organisation of the 2009 music festival was tasked to the newly formed BVI Music Festival Cane Garden Bay Limited with financial support from Government.
