Basseterre, St Kitts; 1 June 2018 -- On Saturday, 9 June 2018, the Members of the Jamaican Kittitian Nevisian (JamKitNev) Association, the Association of Jamaicans and friends of Jamaicans living in the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis, will pause to share comradery with fellow Caribbean Nationals in its JamKitNev Non Nationals Domino Tournament which has been hosted every two years or so since 2009.
The Tournament will be held for the fourth consecutive occasion at Golf Course Snackette (Ezee Eats-Indian's place), across from FND Co-operative Credit Union and next door to NAGICO Insurance, on Wellington Road, Basseterre and will start at 3.00pm.
This format of the Domino Tournament is the brainchild of one of the Past Presidents of the Association, Leartize (Lee) Graham, who, while he might not be able to be physically present at the Event, will be with us in spirit throughout the competition. The Domino Tournament arose out of the desire to continue the work of the Association in promoting the cultural diversity and similarities of the Caribbean region here in the Federation. Domino players from the Federation can choose a team to play for or get assigned to a team, so all are welcome.
The JamKitNev Association expresses special thanks to major sponsors since 2013 - Elco Ltd and Forum Deco; sponsors since inception in 2009 - Ram's Trading Limited and Warner's One Stop; sponsor since 2011 - Golf Course Snackette (Ezee Eats-Indian'place); and sponsor since 2015 - Junie's Shop (Mansion). We thank them for their continued support in assisting us in meeting our objectives.
The defending champions of the JamKitNev Non Nationals Domino Tournament are Winston Belle and Brian Pemberton who were the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) representing the JamKitNev Association's Team for the last edition in December 2015. Will they be back this year to defend their title? Time will tell! Will champions for the 2011 and 2013 and then MVPs for the JamKitNev Association’s Team, Desroy Tate and Anthony Stead, be back this year to challenge the sitting champions? Again, only time will tell!
In 2015 the MVPs for the Guyanese Team, Orin Lewis and Tony (Buffy) James, tied in 2nd place with MVPs for the Dominica Team, Garfield (Ras Garbo) Trotman and Marc Williams. The 3rd points level also saw a tie with partners representing JamKitNev Association, Carol (Zastro) Raymore and Daniel (Snake) Vitalo, and a pair representing Dominica, Anthony Powell and Elvis Norford. Are these persons coming back to challenge for supremacy this year? What do you think?
See you all on Saturday, 9 June 2018 for another exciting edition of the JamKitNev Association Non Nationals Domino Tournament!
“One Love”
NB: The original name of the Association was Jamaican Kittitian (JamKit) Association, although it had members on both Nevis and St Kitts. In 2016 the members voted to have the name changed to Jamaican Kittitian Nevisian (JamKitNev) Association.
