(March 8, 2004) -- Five top adventure journalists from the US and Canada are expected in Nevis from Tuesday, to undertake an Adventures Press Trip that has been organised by the Nevis Tourism Authority.

According to Ms Jackie Lewis, Assistant to the CEO at Nevis Tourism Authority, the five writers will be accompanied by Ms Margie Benzier of Cheryl Andrews Marketing of Miami, Florida, and are expected take part in a Mini Market Place that will be held at the Old Manor Hotel on Thursday.

Coming in are Ms Chelle Koster Walton of the Sanibel Island, Florida, who has an assigment from Bridal Guide and contributes to various publications, Ms Jennifer Hoppe of New York, New York who is on staff and has an assignment for Modern Bride, and Ms Diane Slawych of Toronto Canada, who writes a weekly page in the travel section of the Toronto Sun.

Also from New York, New York is freelance photojournalist Ms Dannielle Hayes who contributes to the New York Times, Time Inc., Esquire Magazine, Fairchild Publications, Destinations, Newsweek, Travel & Leisure, Seattle Post Intelligencer, Globe & Mail and Forbes FYI, and freelance journalist Ms Pam Wright of Boston Massachusetts.

Ms Wright, who arrives on Friday contributes outdoor adventure features to publications including Diversion, Odyssey, FamilyFun, Backpacker and also writes a weekly outdoor recreation column and bi-weekly travel column that is picked up by newspapers throughout New England, and is exploring ‘An outdoor lovers’ guide to Nevis’ as an angle for her press trip.

“For the duration of their visit with us on Nevis,” commented Ms Lewis, “they are going to be having activities such as horseback riding, hiking in the rainforest out of Golden Rock, they will be doing a hands-on with Barbara Whitman at Under the Sea going out and doing some snorkelling and then they will be dining at various locations on the island - Mt. Nevis, Nisbet, Old Manor (which is the host hotel) and Hermitage.”

They will be in Nevis until Sunday the 14th, but Ms Pam Wright who would be arriving on Friday, will be on the island until Tuesday February 16, to allow her to do those particular activities a little later in the week.

This is the first Adventures Press Trip, explained Ms Lewis, saying that it is as the result of a trip undertaken in January by Ms Yvette Jackman (manager for the North American market at the Nevis Tourism Authority) to New York where she took part in an Adventures Expo.

At the Adventure Expo, Ms Jackman was accompanied by two members of the Tourism Allied Business Association (TABA), Ms Barbara Whitman and Mrs Alison Jordan-Guilbert. “This press trip is now a follow-up of that,” observed Ms Lewis. “It is featuring the adventures we have on the island for our visitors.

We have been having press coming in from US and Canada, but this is a special press trip that we are having specifically for adventures on the island.”
